Your Essential Guide to Facial Rejuvenation

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR AND WHAT RESULTS TO EXPECT

Our brief look at the history of Acupuncture shows that Facial Rejuvenation is not a new and trendy gimmick but has been around for years.

Only recently, however, has this form of non-invasive face lift become widely accepted.

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  • Facial Rejuvenation is not only a procedure of using

    needles

on the facial area but also on the arms and the legs.

  • Hair fine needles are inserted into specific areas of the face to increase the flow of blood and Collagen production which in turn decreases signs of ageing and tiredness such as baggy eyes and wrinkles.
  • The needles applied to the arms and the legs increase the flow of Qi (pronounced "chee") throughout the whole body. Qi means "energy".

There is an old Chinese axiom "Where Qi goes, blood flows"

Qi balances the opposing forces of

Yin and Yang.

When Yin and Yang are in harmony, Qi flows freely and you stay healthy, but when the Qi gets blocked you become ill. Acupuncture unblocks Qi and restores the body's natural healthy balance.

Increased circulation of blood helps the body to look and feel better and effectively heal itself. The relatively painless method of Acupuncture boosts that natural ability.

We also know that the face usually shows signs of the body's general state of health. This is why the results of successful Acupuncture treatment are enhanced when coupled with a healthy diet and exercise. WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR:

  • If you are considering having Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture, please make certain that the Acupuncturist you deal with has a qualified background and a formal training in Facial Rejuvenation.
  • Before your first treatment, they should spend time giving you a diagnostic of your general health, supported by questions relating to your medical history. They should also give you a full explanation of how the treatment works.
  • Whilst the treatment is non-invasive, you would hardly consider undergoing surgery with someone who has never held a scalpel so check out your Acupuncturist's credentials first!

BE CAUTIOUS OF:
  • Inflated promises of breathtaking results
  • Astronomic costs of treatment - the cost per session should be no more than any other form of alternative therapy
  • Expecting instant results

WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT:

  • The hair thin needles will be applied to your face, lower legs and arms at specific points which vary according to the individual.
  • The treatment is not painful although some clients experience a tingling sensation as the Acupuncturist "taps" the needles in.
  • Some clients do witness a visible improvement after their very first session but results will naturally vary dependent on the individual. After approximately 6 treatments, you can expect to see improved skin tone/texture and you will have a general sense of improved "well being".

    Fast asleep!

    Fast asleep!
  • During your treatment you should feel extremely relaxed; it is a fact that many clients actually fall asleep, sometimes even snoring!
  • After 20-30 minutes the needles are removed and your therapist should provide you with a facial massage.
  • Finally, your session is completed by sitting down to relax and drink some water which helps you to "come round".

CASE NOTE

A regular client of our resident consultant, Christine Whittaker, had a 6 week intensive course of Facial Rejuvenation in order to look her best for her 50th Birthday.

After her 6 week course she looked fantastic with many friends remarking on her amazing appearance. Sadly, after a week long excess of too much food and alcohol coupled with a lack of sleep, all Christine's good work was undone.

The client is now back to her best but the moral here is not to expect Facial Rejuvenation to cover up life's excesses as the body will always show signs of neglect in the face!
