Noni Juice

What on earth is Noni?

Noni fruit The noni is a fruit that looks a bit like a prickly pear. The juice from the fruit has been used for centuries by traditional healers as a kind of "healing herb".

But you can't just squeeze the juice out and rub it on your skin!

The tricky bit about this special juice is that the fruit needs to be fermented for 3-6 months, then pressed and bottled. This also has to be done with MATURE noni and not under-ripe fruit otherwise the taste is very bitter.

You also have to be careful not to expose the fruit to harmful chemicals and the juice MUST be extracted under strict sanitary conditions to preserve the sensitive compounds so vital for the juice's healing and rejuvenative properties.

So why is noni juice a hot topic at the moment?

Well it has actually been around for quite a few years, but we heard about it from a friend who was recommended to use it to ease joint pain in the fingers due to arthritis. We've always been somewhat sceptical of dietary supplements but thought we should research it to see for ourselves.

It appears that it can eliminate pain and fatigue, boost your energy levels and has even been used to promote weight loss. It should be noted, however that the juice is very sweet so maybe not as effective for weight loss as it is claimed!

Noni juice can be used for a wide variety of other conditions and has often been the lifesaver for some problems when all other methods have failed.
We found numerous stories on the web about Noni juice curing cancer but could not find any research to prove this either way.

Worryingly, in 2005, a report was produced highlighting the risk of contracting hepatitis through taking too much Noni juice. This report was countered a year later as the claims were proved to be inaccurate. You can read more information about this and the health benefits/risks associated with taking ANY dietary supplement at Wikipedia.

Having researched this in some depth, our view is that noni juice is really just a good addition to your diet to ease everyday aches and pains and it can give you an energy boost as well. We wouldn't recommend trying it unless we had specific feedback from friends who can justify its efficacy.

NB: Recent popularity of noni juice in recent years has led to to a HUGE number of companies now marketing the product - at the last count it was over 300 worldwide!

Our advice: Read the label carefully and make sure you are buying only 100% PURE Noni Juice.
